He was not wearing shoes before the bite
Narrative
The residents of a rundown French apartment building battle an army of deadly, rapidly reproducing spiders. The visually striking buildings in which the action takes place were not created for the film; they are Picasso’s arenas in Noisy-le-Grand, outside of Paris, designed by architect Manuel Núñez Yanowsky in the 1980s. When TN suffers the effects of the spider bite, he is wearing one of the new shoes. He would not wear the right shoes after the attack/poisoning.

Vermines (aka Infested) is a funny creature with a really cool atmosphere. You get a sense of that early on through the music and tone. It does a good job of creating strong characters and is generally well done from a technical standpoint. As for the spiders, they are amazing and are the best aspect of the film.
They find many creative ways to present the creatures
It’s the kind of fun horror movie that I wish they would make more of instead of the thousands of boring, forgettable movies Hollywood puts out. There are a few things that keep this movie from being a rewatch in my opinion. There are a few non-spider scenes that go on way too long. I like that they took the time to develop the characters, but there are a lot of parts where cutting something out would have had no impact on the story or the movie.
It’s much better than another recent spider movie called Sting
It’s like the director was afraid to leave a single shot on the cutting room floor. There are also a few questionable parts, but it’s not that bad. There were a lot of scenes where multiple people were screaming at once, which made it hard to watch when you had to read the constant double lines of subtitles. Even with these flaws, I still enjoyed this movie as a one-off.
Vermines is basically the opposite
That one has an embarrassing ~35 seconds of spider time and is very boring. (1 viewing, 04/29/2024)
