American (English) remake of the French series HPI (2021)
Narrative
It is about Morgan, a single mother of three, and how her extraordinary mind allows her to help solve crimes while rearranging evidence during her shift as a cleaner at the police station. Despite his very high IQ, excellent memory and extensive knowledge of the arcane, Morgan makes a number of basic legal errors that anyone who has ever watched a legal TV show would be unable to make. In the first episode, for example, she takes a document from a locked safe in the suspect-victim’s law office that would never be admissible in court – illegally obtained evidence.
Ok, the series is off to a great start, Kaitlin Olson has given a solid performance
Nor can it be used to obtain other evidence, which violates the legal doctrine of the “fruit of the poisonous tree”. In episode 2 she has to be reminded to wear gloves before handling evidence at the crime scene and in #3 she removes all documented evidence from the police station, completely breaking the chain of evidence and making anything she removed inadmissible in court.. Remake HPI (2021).
In this episode she is overly complacent and distracts from the case
The series is very similar to the TBS series “Monk” where a person with borderline Asperger’s syndrome helps the police solve crimes. Again, the show is solid so far but not as unusual or entertaining as “Monk” but it is fun to watch. In episode 3 it really goes off the rails and I hope episode 4 really improves.
Tactics that would kill the case
She takes the evidence from the police station, she manipulates the evidence and contaminates it. ECHOS? Zero…
Again, I hope things get better in episode 4
It’s almost confusing how annoying she is in this episode. He shows little to no signs of self-awareness or remorse for his actions.
