Narrative
Nate Busco has spent 12 of his 17 years running from his past
Fed up of being bounced from foster home to foster home, he now lives in his car, eats cornflakes, and uses track practice as an opportunity to shower.
Alone, he’s haunted by fragments of traumatic memories from his past
When night comes, he couldn’t be more different from the confident, fiery person he was at school.
Enter Stan Dean, a popular high school drama teacher struggling with his own problems
He sees Nate’s latent talent and his need for nurturing and guidance where no other teacher has, and he sets out to help.
But in a shocking turn of events, Nate is arrested in the middle of school and led away in handcuffs
Stan tracks Nate down to the police station and not only arranges bail, but agrees to take Nate into his own home, despite the raised eyebrows he receives from his fellow teachers.
Stan is willing to do whatever he can to help a struggling student
But the question is, can you really help someone if you’re not prepared to help yourself?
